We’ve just picked up the kar, it’s a ‘57 Beetle – when we first started looking, this was the first oval we came across, but it’s never a good idea to buy the first car you find so we kept on looking. It seems like all the ovals are either fully restored, or need a full restoration and there’s very little in between – so after some deliberation we settled on this. And it’s black, which is cool.
We’ve created a wish list of parts, please let us know if you can help (more photos on that page too)

the Kidz are Paul Wood and Rob Amos, ok so at 40+ we’re not exactly kids anymore, but do men ever really grow up? Judging by this hairbrained scheme I’d say no. Will we still be friends after the rally? watch this space…
Filed under: About Budapest-Bamako
A few months ago we had a crazy idea, to get an old Beetle and enter it into the Budapest-Bamako rally. If you’ve never heard of the Budapest-Bamako rally, it’s often referred to as the poor-man’s Paris-Dakar (although obviously it doesn’t start in Paris or end in Dakar).
The Budapest-Bamako is the biggest charity rally in Africa. In 2008 the rally delivered close to 500,000 Euros worth of aid. Every team is assigned an African village, the team will then have to visit that village and take medicine, toys, school supplies, childrens’ clothing and other items of importance to that village.
